Airline Won't Block "Porn" But Be Careful, Stewardesses Are Watching You

Internet addicted airline travelers, your dreams already had come true. Thanks to Wi-Fi technology, now we can enjoy internet connection on American Airline and Lufthansa. But a big question leaking out : should airlines let the passengers to browsing porn site in the plane cabin, where underage passengers easily sneak out their gadget? If internet connection be filtered, will it harm our right to find information?

US air answered : they won't filtered internet access, but rely on their stewardesses on duty to maintain situation and handle complains from passengers.

They took a win-win solution : they won't ignore our right to find information, but they also have responsibility to maintain peace on plane. That's a good idea, but is it works? Stewardesses are already busy on their routine duty, and they have to keep on their eyes to passenger's gadget. Sorry, stewardesses are human, they only have two eyes, it's very hard to keep on their eyes to all passengers.

This question remain unanswered, but maybe we can flirt to pretty stewardesses by opening "hazardous" site on our gadget. What do you think?

Computer Virus Found On... Space Station

Every computer user knows that removing virus and worm is tricky job. Even with updated anti virus, sometimes they can still occupied our computer and attacks again. Many computer amateurs feels that removing virus is very devastating. So, should we ask for experts for help? From NASA's experts, perhaps?

Unfortunately, now they have to face common problem like we used to on space : struggling with computer virus. NASA has confirmed that laptops carried to the ISS in July were infected with a virus known as Gammima.AG. This nasty virus was first detected on Earth in August 2007, occupying laptops used by astronauts to run their nutritional program, waiting to steal login names for some Asia online games, such as Maple Story, HuangYi online, and Talesweaver. And the bad news is laptops carried by astronauts reportedly do not have any anti-virus software on them to prevent infection (!)

NASA stated ISS has no direct net connection and all data traffic traveling from Earth to the spacecraft is always scanned before being transmitted. They thought that the virus might have traveled to space via a flash or USB drive owned by an astronaut and taken into space.

Lessons for NASA : NOW they plans to put security systems to stop such incidents happening in the future. Better than never, right? NASA is working with partners on the ISS to find out how the virus got on to the laptop in the first place.

Lessons for us : always update your anti virus, and... pray for your computer safety.

Nokia 8800 Carbon Arte - Reborn Of Classic Handset With Carbon Technology

Being a geek is not a bad thing, as long as you know how to glamour yourself.

Nokia in their press release has announced that they had introduced Nokia 8800 Carbon Arte - the reborn of their classic Nokia 8800. Wow, it's been a long time since the classic Nokia 8800 release (it was released on April 2005) so, what's new about this metallic beauty?

Surprisingly, They didn't give latest offers given by other competitor's products. The latest Carbon Arte model only brings 3G, a 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera, build-in memory that can be expanded to 4 GB by flash memory, and OLED display with anti-fingerprint coating. And the bad news is, it is Europe-bound tri-band GSM phone, so it won't be usable in some part of US.

So, what's special from this reborn oldies? Well, the press release said it's body case on front and back side made by combination carbon fiber, titanium, and stainless steel materials. Quite simple tricks, but it's enough to rise up its price to €1,100 ($1,600) .

You see, you've got good offering. You'll have this glamorous phone with extended memory up to 4 GB ( the original 8800 only had 1 GB extended memory), better camera, and fantastic body case, only for about $ 1,600... Oh, don't forget to pay tax too. It will be on market on fourth quarter of 2008. Don't miss it!

Americans Are Smarter Than Other Country's Citizens?

Are Americans Really That Stupid? - video powered by Metacafe

I found this clip in Andrew Ooi's blog (thanks bro). If you feeling dumber lately, just watch this clip and see yourself if you can answer this simple question...

The Next Step to Create Invisible Man

My little nephew was once had fantasy about being invisible. My nephew was 4 years old, now 7 years old and had forgotten about it. But thanks to some geeky adults, now my nephew's dream is getting closer to reality.

Scientists team at Berkeley University, unsurprisingly sponsored by US military, have invented a material that can bend light around small objects - in other words, it makes the object invisible. This new material have ability to to control the direction of light travels, so just move the light direction from subject's eyes and... Voila, the object is invisible now!

Xiang Zhang, head of scientist team, feels that it can used to bending light from larger object, so the object will be invisible for some time.

Looks like we're entering invisible man era... But I have one question in my mind.
Will they have to wear clothes?

Tribal Bungee Jumping - The Real Near-Death Experience

Bungee jumping has been a sensational extreme sport all around the world for last few years, it's now very common to see bungee jumping site on tall building or recreation area in major cities. But how about bungee jumping in remote area?

Welcome to Naghol festival in Pentecost Island, Vanuatu. Long before the western tasted the sensation of falling from high place, the people of Vanuatu had been doing their own version of what we call bungee jumping for about 1,500 years(!) It looks similar to our modern bungee jumping, only different for their "low safety standard" equipments. The jumping base is a 75 feets (25meters) high bamboo tower, the jumper's leg roped with woven vines and they makes a deep canyon to jump into, impact is absorbed by a mere few layers of vines spread across the ground.

Naghol festival is celebrated around the same time as the yam harvest. The jumping session is a rite of passage for young boys who demonstrate their courage by hurling themselves off the towers. Of course, some do it to impress the chicks, like any society, and others do it just for fun.

Before the jump, it’s common for those that jump to settle awhile with family and friends, well, in case they die. Thankfully, there is no death report for this year. But there have been a few damaged spleens and other various injuries. And just in case they’ve struck a deal with lady luck, the divers must take off any lucky charms and refrain from having sex with a woman the day before he jumps, otherwise the dive could go wrong. Every time a jumper take leap, other tribe member frenetically dance and cheer him up.

Naghol festival is ended with enough cooked pig for all and dancing late into the night. Thanks for all heroes. Wanna try this bungee? Or you just wanna dance and eat cooked pig just like other tribe member? It's depend to you.

New Money Making : Rent Your Nintendo Wii for $110 An Hour For Workout

Are you already get bored with your Nintendo Wii?
Or are you a fitness gym owner who wants to make a breakthrough?
Why don't you put that console in gym and charged the costumers $110 for an hour for private training session?

Is it sounds silly? Not really. In fact, a Manhattan gym is charging their costumers $110 for one hour private training session with Nintendo Wii. Great business breakthrough isn't it? But is it really effective to our training?

"You'd be surprised. It may have little to do with the real sports, but we get people's heart rates up to 140 to 150 beats per minute - although some of that may just be the excitement of the game," said Evans from Gravity Fitness at Le Parker Meridien hotel, Manhattan. Mark Natale, executive director added that their costumers has accustomed to training out with Wii. "We think of this as just another tool at the gym," he said.

So how they manage the Nintendo-style workout at gym? They simply combined Wii sport games (boxing, tennis, dodge ball, etc) with the real thing. They put the Nintendo-style workout in between technical and physical workout, when they used to take a little break. "I use it in what we call 'active recovery time,' during which normally I would have them do a wall sit," Evans said. "But this is like a reward."

Is it sounds useless to you? Just think it again. A study by the American Council on Exercise found that although playing the Wii is no substitute for the real-life sports, it is possible to burn almost as many calories. Even it's easier than the real thing, it still help costumers lose a few pixels in the process.

So, if you're run out of money, just bring your Wii to your gym and rent it to other costumers... Just if you don't get kicked off by gym owner.

Busy Year - 2 More Storms Added "Active" Status for 2008

Bad news for US citizens arrives from the hurricane forecaster.

On 5 August 2008 they announced that 2 more storms has been added to their watch list for their potential to grow to be hurricane. That means, there are 17 named storms which they should watched in this 1 June to 30 November.

Philip Klotzbach and William Gray of Colorado State University expect that 9 of them will grow into hurricanes and 5 more grow into major hurricanes. They predict that this period will be much more active season than the typical season between 1950 and 2000.

They points to warm sea-surface temperatures and low sea-level pressures over the tropical Atlantic in June and July, combined with an active early season in the deep tropics as driving the boost in their seasonal forecast numbers. They also continues to warn the higher probability of at least one intense hurricane making landfall for the reminder of this hurricane season.

So, how is the probability of hurricane attack in US mainland for this season? Here is the clue:

-67 percent: somewhere along the U.S. coastline
-43 percent: along the U.S. east coast, including the Florida peninsula
-42 percent: along the Gulf Coast from the Florida Panhandle westward to Brownsville, Texas

Don't panic, but always prepare for the worst case scenario!
